Hello! Welcome to Maitri Therapy and Wellness. You may know us as Amanda Reagan Therapy but onward and upward we go! In Buddhism, loving-kindness (maitri) is the first of the Four Immeasurables, or Limitless Ones, which are Buddhist virtues and meditation practices to cultivate each one. Most commonly translated as love or loving-kindness, maitri also means loving-kindness to oneself. Seems pretty fitting for a mental health practice that focuses on self love.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The therapeutic process is designed to bring emotions to the surface, and naturally some of those will be “negative” emotions (fear, anger, sadness, grief, rage). Therapy can also bring up old wounds, hurts, and trauma. This is also ok – in fact, it’s a good thing! That’s exactly what therapy is for. Better out than in, right? You are beginning a journey that is full of unknowns. But the most important thing to remember is that you decided to take this first step. And that is huge.
We’ll work together to help you manage what is coming up for you in the moment so that you can feel grounded instead of overwhelmed by your life. This can feel icky, uncomfortable, and tough. And that is also ok. Therapy is a journey. It is not a marathon. It is a self-paced experience that is individualized to you and no one else.
Overtime, therapy will help you regain a sense of empowerment and control over your life, through increased self-awareness, connection, and compassion.
