WHY SHOULD I GO TO THERAPY?
Therapy is an individual choice and an individual journey. People seek therapy for a variety of reasons, such as anxiety, depression, overwhelm, stress, trauma, and relationship issues. It is common to feel ambivalent, scared, and uncertain when considering seeing a therapist for the first time. Or perhaps you have seen a therapist before but had a less than positive experience. Whatever is driving you to consider therapy in your life right now, be honest with yourself about it. We are happy to explore your feelings about the therapeutic relationship and whatever may come up during the process.
HOW DO WE BEGIN WORKING TOGETHER?
Please contact us to schedule a free 20 minute phone call where we will briefly discuss what’s bringing you to therapy and to clarify any questions you may have. Next we’ll schedule your initial appointment. The practice will follow up through email with some forms for you to fill out as well as instructions on how to prepare for your first virtual session.
During the first session, we will discuss your history, current concerns, and goals for working together. If we choose to move forward after the first session, we will begin a series of a sessions where we get to know each other, dive deeper and begin to clarify your goals. This period also allows us to see how I can best serve your needs.
HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?
The fees for therapy with Amanda are $100 per week for a 45-50 minute individual session and $150 per week for a 45-50 minute Couples session. The fees for therapy with Ali are $55 per week for a 45-50 minute individual session.
WILL YOU BE OFFERING IN-PERSON SESSIONS ANYTIME SOON?
Our practice is 100% online at this point. We will use a HIPAA compliant video platform for all sessions. Virtual therapy allows you to seek services on your time in the comfort of your home or work space.
I WANT MY TEEN TO PARTICIPATE. DO I ATTEND THE APPOINTMENTS AS WELL?
Teens want to feel respected too. In therapy this respect begins with privacy. Allowing your teen to confide in some stranger can feel unnatural. You’ve invested your time and finances into raising this teenager and now some stranger has more information about your teen than you do.
But as tempting as it may be to ask your teen questions about her or his therapy, please know, your teen will resist therapy if what she or he said to the therapist gets back to you—whether it’s coerced by a parent or leaked by the therapist. Confidentiality is a cornerstone for a successful therapy. Some exceptions exist to confidentiality—we will discuss these exceptions during the initial consultation.
